Computer Technology – Is It Good Or Bad?
The 21st century has been the era of so many breakthroughs and advancements in technology, technologies aimed at one goal and which is to improve people’s lives by helping them become more efficient at their jobs. One such technological breakthrough is computer technology.
Computer technology has developed in great proportions, from a computer the size of a room to a small, well-designed handheld. Computers these days have become an indispensable part of people’s lives, especially at work, in businesses, businesses, schools, offices and even in homes.
He made the world smaller, but did he make our world a better place? This would then lead us to question whether computer technology is good or bad. Now let’s try to look at some of the bad effects first. With the advent of computers and with the Internet it has become easy to access pornographic sites, children are more exposed to explicit content; some students would lose focus on their studies by playing computer games. The number of obesity cases has increased and this has been attributed to too much computer activity which has led to less physical activity in a number of people.
On the other side of the coin, computers have opened up a whole new world of possibilities. It is now easier to get information on world events; you can even find a job on the Internet; you can spread advocacy to a large number of people all over the world; and most importantly, it is now easier to be connected to each other even if you are on the other side of the world.
Computer technology, like any other material on earth, was created with a common good in mind. Just like a knife, it was designed for cutting and slicing food to speed up cooking time for people, but it can also be used to kill people, and you cannot prohibit the use of knives for stop killing. And so you cannot blame the computers for the problems they may have caused because it is the people who are using them that caused the problem. It has drawbacks and advantages that should be taken into consideration.
But the problem is not the computer technology itself; the problem lies with the people who use it. Computer technology is generally good because it can do a lot of good if used correctly, but can do a lot of harm if used recklessly.
People have a choice about how they use the earth’s resources, and that choice will determine how certain materials affect people, whether good or bad.
