Why are Asian women so thin?

The main reason why Asian women are so thin is due to the social demands placed on them by the media and the fashion industry. Youth and beauty are defined by an underdeveloped body with seemingly childlike features. There is also genetics involved. Biology tells us that evidence from early humans showed similar traits associated with neoteny. The word itself is rarely used to refer to underdevelopment or individuals who retain clear youthful traits well into adulthood. In the modern vernacular, we have used derogatory expressions such as pancake chest, flat bottom, flat like a board, skin and bone, and other more colorful and offensive expressions to refer to an underdeveloped and skinny person.

Having no chest, no butt, and something unrelated called “Yaeba”, a Japanese word that means snaggletooth in English, completely destroys the natural beauty of Japanese women. Being thin and undernourished is self-deprivation and therefore goes against the natural development of the body. Eat three meals a day and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Clothing stores market the idea of cute and “forever 21” to appeal to young women in their teens and twenties. The idea that by dressing like you’re 21, you can look 21 again has been a marketing strategy for decades. It’s as if the media barons of Tokyo and Shibuya are working alongside the fashion industry to deliberately promote thin young women as opposed to healthy young women. Having too much physical maturity is considered un-Japanese. Seems to them a certain sense of impurity associated with being and looking too mature.

Japanese women are inundated with images of thin women in fashion magazines, movies and movies. Often these slim women are portrayed as living the good life and seem happy and content because of all the friends and lovers they seem to have. Young Japanese women set abnormally high expectations for themselves by experimenting with unhealthy eating fads that end up doing more harm than good. When they go shopping, they want to be able to wear clothes that look cute, often around the waistline of 24-26cm. It’s very small.

The manga is another reason why too. Often caricatures are drawn with abnormally small waste sizes. It doesn’t stop there, Japanese men prefer to date slimmer women, often with youthful features. Taller women feel isolated and underappreciated for their own natural beauty. This rejection of what is natural has plagued Japanese society for decades and has been a major contributing factor to depression and suicide among many young women.
